Covered Bridge is a more recently developed community with residential construction beginning in 2002. Located between the fork of Highway 71 and Highway 290. With this position, Covered Bridge has tremendous access to the hustle and bustle of the Downtown Austin city area. If you are moving into Covered Bridge because you love covered bridges, don't expect to find one. Perhaps, the name of the community was given because it "bridges" highways 71 and 290, but nonetheless it is a beautiful community that continues to grow from active residential development.

Covered Bridge is part of the Austin Independent School District. Young students attend Oak Hill Elementary School, which is academically "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency. Older students in Covered Bridge attend Clint Small Middle School and Bowie High School.
