Georgetown, Texas is a more distant suburb of Austin, located north of Round Rock. The main access road to Georgetown is I35, but with the recently completed 130 tollway there is access from the east side of Georgetown. Despite being a little farther out, the city like most areas around Austin, is growing at a rapid pace. The population of Georgetown is now around 55,000 people.
Georgetown has a very cute, quaint downtown area that gives residents and visitors a taste of the old town, historic feel. Georgetown has museums, art galleries, parks, and even their own municipal airport. The weather is usually beautiful up in Georgetown with an average of 225 days per year of mostly sunny to sunny days and roughly 75 days of partly cloudy skies. So don't expect any rain on your parade in Georgetown!
Georgetown is home to Sun City. A massive retirement community of approximately 7,000 homes (will be over 10,000 when closed out), you must be at least 55 years of age to live in Sun City. This is strictly enforced. Sun City is just minutes from Lake Georgetown and the community features THREE GOLF COURSES, Legacy Hills, White Wing, and Cowan Creek. All three courses are open to the public and cover 315 acres of Texas hill country.
