North Austin is up and coming in the desirability index of buyers. Part of the reason for the increasing interest in North Austin is the area's large amount of luxury apartment complexes. Currently, The Domain features a Gold Class Cinemas, Dick's Sporting Goods, Austin's only Neiman Marcus, hotel, apartments above retail, several restaurants, and luxury fashions including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Diesel, and Tiffany & Co. There are future plans for a Whole Foods Market.
Much of the appeal of North Austin is it's recognizability to those who may not be native Austinites. People who aren't from the area find comfort in the reliability of many of the national chain shopping stores and restaurants, such as Costco, Panera Bread, Marshall's, Chipotle, Barnes & Noble, and Best Buy. This is not to say North Austin doesn't have it's uniqueness. North By Northwest, Opal Divine's, and Iron Cactus are just three popular local area restaurants.
Homes for sale in North Austin range in price from around $135,000 to $300,000. The average sales price is around $210,000 and the median is $200,000. The most popular neighborhoods in North Austin are Wells Branch and Scofield Farms.
